REPORT OF THE NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS) ACTIVITIES FOR THE FINANCIAL YEAR 2018-2023

2018-19

  1. On January 26, 2018, the college observed Republic Day by hoisting the National Flag and paying tribute to the day the Constitution of the Republic of India came into force. College students were made aware of the importance of this date in the Indian national movement and the reason for its choice as the day to bring the constitution into effect through a brief special lecture.
  2. Jangalmahal utsav from 03.01.2018 to 10.01.2018, 25 volunteers performed their duties.
  3. Volunteers participated actively in the celebration of Women's day on 8th March
  4. Campus cleaning program on 10.04.2018 was organised including disinfecting the campus. 20 volunteers participated in this program.
  5. Celebrated World Environment day on 5th June.A Plantation programme was also held.
  6. Swaccha Bharat Summer Internship program organised by NSS unit on 27th July 2018 at Nedabahara Village. 10 Volunteers, Program officer, Advisory member Pampa Hembram and Manish Chakraborty participated in this program. 65 families were visited by us to see the conditions in which the families live like availability of proper toilets, drinking water. Only 19 families were found to have toilets. Bleaching was sprayed in the village. A health awareness programme was also organised on the same day at Nedabahara primary school.
  7. A rally was organised on 10.08.2018 on the occasion of Summer internship programme.
  8. An educational movie 'Toilet' was showed on 10.08.2018 at seminar hall.
  9. Rally for Jhargram Mela, 22 volunteers participated on 23.01.2019.
  10. Campus cleaning program Organised on 04.02.2019.
  11. 22 volunteers performed their duty in Jangalmahal utsav from 24.01.2019 to 31.01.2019
  12. Rally on Paribeshmela, 26 volunteers participated on 04.02.2019.

2019-2020

  1. Given the rapid environmental degradation and its negative impact on life, protection of the environment and keeping the surroundings clean and green is considered to be a necessary responsibility to be shouldered by the youth of today for a sustainable future. Saplings were planted in the college campus on World Environment Day and College Principal Susil kuman Barman delivered a speech on the importance of the day.
  2. One of the primary objective of NSS is to understand the community in which they work , to identify the needs and problems of the community and to develop a sense of civic responsibility for community benefit. Keeping this goal in mind, the NSS unit organized a Swacchata program on 10.08.19, 13.08.19 and 14.08.19, in which disinfecting agents like bleaching powder was distributed amongst the residents in the college vicinity and in the adopted village Satyaban Pally. This attempt was made to create awareness about the importance of keeping surroundings clean to prevent deadly diseases like dengue that aggravate with poor sanitation.
  3. On August 15, 2019 the college celebrated the Independence Day by hoisting the national flag followed by a lecture on the glorious history of the country’s national independence struggle and the sacrifices made by the great leaders of our country.
  4. A campus cleaning program was organized by NSS unit on 5th December, 2019.
  5. Jhargram's Jangalmahal Utsav is a very important event. This was organized from 21st January to 25th January 2020. There are different types of stalls at the Jangalmahal Utsav. Among them NSS has a stall where our twenty five NSS volunteers perform their duties.
  6. On January 26, 2020 the college celebrated the Republic Day by hoisting the National Flag and paying tribute to the day the Constitution of the Republic of India came into force.
  7. A Campus cleaning program organized on 25th January 2020.
  8. A self-defense training program was organized by NSS unit in collaboration with Women CRPF, Jhargram from 27th February to 5th March. The students participated in this training program with great interest.
  9. A legal awareness program was organised by NSS Unit-1 in collaboration with Jhargram Court on 14.03.2020,to educate women about the rights they are entitled to as the general awareness in this area is quite less. The programme highlighted issues like trafficking, cyber crimes and harassment on social media platforms so that girls become aware in case they face such situations.

2020-2021

  1. During the Covid pandemic our thirty four volunteers participated in the online health training program organised by MHRD, GOVT.OF INDIA from 22.04.2020 to 25.04.2022.
  2. COVID-19 Awareness activities were carried out by NSS Volunteers in the form of Posters (4 posters and 1 painting), Poem and Videos (2videos in MP4 format) May to June.
  3. Independence Day was celebrated in online mode where various programs such as principal sir's speech, girls' patriotic song and dance on 15th August.
  4. Our fifty volunteers participated in the Road Safety Webinar on 27th Sep'20 organised by Vidyasagar University in collaboration with Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd.
  5. 18 of our volunteers gave duty in merit cum scholarship examination in three schools namely Nanibala Girls, Nanibsla Boys and Kumudkumari Institution on 24.01.2021 organized by Govt. Of West Bengal.

  7. Women's Day was celebrated in online mode. Professors and students participated and shared their experiences on 8th March, 2021.

2021-2022

  1. A small program was organized to mark World Environment Day on 5th June. The program started auspiciously with planting of saplings by honourable Principal of our college. Each volunteer took an active part in this event. Everyone present at the event pledged to plant at least one sapling every year.
  2. 25 of our volunteers participated in the Young Warriors program in June 2021.(which mode)
  3. A College campus clean drive took place on 12th August 2021. The campus was disinfected for keeping the environment around the college clean and to create awareness among the students on the same.
  4. Independence Day was celebrated in the college on August 15, 2021 following the Covid protocol.
  5. On 26th January, 2022 the college celebrated Republic Day by hoisting the national flag and paying homage to the day when the Constitution of the Republic of India came into force. The college youth were made aware of the importance of this date and the reasons for choosing it as the day of the Constitution's promulgation through a short special speech.
  6. 20 of our volunteers Participated at Prabhatferi program on 2nd February from Saradapith to S.D.O office, Jhargram on the occasion of 100years celebration of S.D.O Jhargram.
  7. A campus cleaning program was carried out on 4th March for annual sports meet. 70 volunteers participated in the campus cleaning program.
  8. A program was organized by the college and NSS unit on the occasion of International Women's Day. Swami Veda Purushananda of Eklavya School of Jhargram district, member of women Police Station and cake baker Swatilekha Dey (Ghosh)were some of the guests who enlightened everyone with their experiences. On that day, a debate was also organized on the topic around muslim women’s choice on wearing burqa in educational institutes.
  9. 10 of our volunteers Participated in Swacchata program organised by Jhargram Raj College on 8th March.

2022-23

  1. A campus cleaning program was organised by NSS Unit-1 on 4th March,2022 for annual sports meet.
  2. Women's day was celebrated on 8th March where our volunteers actively participated. b. 10 volunteers participated in Swacchata program at Jhargram Raj College on 8th March
  3. 8 Volunteers participated ' Mind Management' program on 19th April organised by JRCGW and Sadhu Ramchand Murmu University.
  4. Volunteers participated in an online poster competition for World Earth Day 23rd April 2022. Doly Mahata stood third in the poster-making competition.
  5. Bhagyashree Mahali participated in the countdown of 100days Yoga, from 14th May to 20th June.
  6. The NSS unit celebrated the world environment day on 5th June with a plantation program.
  7. A speech competition has been organized by the unit on the occasion of NSS day on 24th November. 30 students participated in the competition.
  8. A week-long winter camp has been organized by the unit from 21.12.2022 to 28.12.2022. Fifty students participated in the camp. Chairman of Jhargram Municipality Madhavi Biswas, Principal of Jhargram Raj College Devnarayan Roy and Principal of our college Sushil Kumar Barman were present at the inauguration of the camp. Various competitions were organized in this camp like, speech competition, Chinese checker along with other events like group discussions on social issues. The girls who participated in the camp conducted a door-to-door survey to increase health awareness around dengue in the adopted village of Sabar para Satyaban pally. Commandant of 232 Women Battalion, CRPF, Jhargram gave self defense training to participants. All Bengal Khokho Association secretary Ajit Kumar Das and Sanjay Jana, Instructor of Bangla Bratachari Samiti, gave Bratachari training to the volunteers. There were also campus cleaning, tree planting programmes and various other cultural events. A rally was organised to create awareness on “ stopping the usage of plastic”. The camp concluded with a talk on 'Jiva Jnane Shiv Seva' and the need for meditation by Maharaja Swami Brahmasvarananda ,Jhargram Ramakrishna Mission
  9. Republic Day was observed on 26th January, 2022 by NSS Unit-1.
